Welcome to Open Mic Mondays at Aurora Borealis!

21+

DOORS: 6pm

List compiled: 6:50pm

Open mics will be a mix of comedy and acoustic musical performances throughout the night. The performance list for both will be drawn as names from a hat prior to the event. The list will be compiled at 6:50pm. If you are late you may be added to the list if there are open spots. If not you will need to wait till the end of the list if possible to get a slot. We do not take early reservations for performances to give everyone fair opportunity to perform.

Comedy performances max out at 7 minutes which leaves approximately 12 spots open for performance. This may change based on length of performances and quantity of performers. If we complete the list and there is still time available we will start back at the bottom of the list or add new comers to fill the time.

Acoustic musical performances max out at 3 songs or 20 minutes. This may change based on length of performances and quantity of performers. If we complete the list and there is still time available we will start back at the bottom of the list or add new comers to fill the time. We do not have any sort of instrumental back line in house so all artists must bring their own instruments.

We will have mics, stands, stools, chairs and even a light and sound tech to help make everything sound great. We will use a flash of light or word of mouth to let you know that you have one minute of performance left. Please be respectful of all artists and be aware of your set ending. If we feel an artist is taking too much time we will cut sound and transition into the next artist. We look forward to seeing what you’ve got!

Wednesday Night Comedy with Kermit Apio

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kermet Apio enjoyed a childhood in paradise. He spent his time watching television, playing, and procrastinating everything else. To this day, he still does all three extensively.

After graduating from high school, Kermet moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. Seattle became home. In early 1989, Kermet did his first open mike night at the Comedy Underground in Seattle. Comedy was a fun hobby. In May of 1990, he quit his job, said good bye to health care and benefits, and took the leap to performing full time. It is still his only job skill.

He was the winner of the 2009 Great American Comedy Festival and has had numerous appearances on television and radio. He has showcased at comedy festivals in Aspen, Las Vegas, and Vancouver and has performed in 47 states and 3 Canadian provinces. He is a past winner of the Seattle Comedy Competition and was a semi-finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition. Also, in 1988 he was Dishwasher of the Month at the Sea-Tac Airport Denny’s.

Kermet is married and the proud father of two wonderful children. He enjoys his family, baseball, and pie. He does not enjoy opera, sitting in traffic, and writing about himself in the third person.
